Show of strength during Youth Cong President's visit

Bhopal, Sep 1 (UNI) A scuffle took place between Congress members during the visit of Youth Congress President Ashok Tanwar in an apparent show of strength in view of appointment of new state Youth Congress president to take place in near future.

State Congress President Subhash Yadav could not start his speech during a meeting of the Youth Congress at Ravindra Bhavan here due to sloganeering and chaos during the show of strength.

Mr Yadav could complete the formality of delivering his speech only after intervention by Mr Tanwar.

Earlier, there was a scuffle between Congress workers while they were outside airport for welcoming Mr Tanwar. The situation was controlled after police intervention.

Mr Tanwar arrived at the programme venue followed by a procession. Traffic was thrown off gear due to long and disorganised convoy of vehicles.

The Youth Congress President could not reach the scheduled press conference in time and was late by around one hour.
