Imphal, Sep 1: Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh reviewed insurgency and security-related issues and the law and order situation yesterday.

Official sources said here today that the chief minister held a Cabinet meeting after about a dozen militants allegedly entered the residences of Congress MLAs and a former MLA at the high security Babupara VIP colony here on August 17.

It was decided in the meeting to check and verify the identities of those who enter the official quarters of MLAs and the VIP colony, the sources added.

Besides, the Cabinet discussed the issue of suspension of operations against more than a dozen militant groups operating in the state.

The army had suspended operations against some Kuki outfits. It was decided in the meeting that the state government should be taken into confidence before suspension of the operations.

The chief minister had stated that the militants, on ceasefire with the army, looted and harassed people and threatened them with arms.

He warned the ultras on ceasefire to stop using weapons and resorting to extortions.

The Union Home ministry had agreed to the proposal of the chief minister and a joint monitoring cell will be opened, the sources said adding that the Cabinet also discussed issues related to police reforms.
