Protest march taken out against killing of Dalit youth in Gohana

Fatehgarh Sahib, Sep 1 (UNI) Hundreds of people, belonging to the Balmiki Community, today leda march at Bassi Pathana, protesting against the killing of a Dalit youth at Gohana in Sonepat district of Haryana recently.

The protesters burnt the effigy of Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and submitted a memorandum to Bassi Pathana Sub-divisional Magistrate Poonamdeep Kaur later.

They were addressed by their leaders who condemned the killing of Dalit youth Rakesh alias Lara in Gohana. They demanded adequate compensation and a government job to one of his family members.

Lara was killed by three motorcycle-borne assailants in Gohana on Monday night. The murder had led to violent protests in Gohana and other parts of Haryana.
