Protest march taken out against killing of dalit youth in Gohana

Fatehgarh Sahib, Sep 1 (UNI) Hundreds of people, belonging to the Balmiki Community, today took out a march at Bassi Pathana, protesting against the killing of dalit youth at Gohana in Sonepat district of Haryana recently.

The protesters burnt the effigy of Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and submitted a memorandum to Bassi Pathana Sub-divisional Magistrate Poonamdeep Kaur later.

They were addressed by their leaders who condemned the killing of dalit youth Rakesh alias Lara in Gohana. They demanded adequate compensation and a government job to one of his family members.

Lara was killed by three motorcycle-borne assailants in Gohana on Monday night. The murder had led to violent protests in Gohana and other parts of Haryana.
