Pleasant weather continues in Delhi though mercury rises to 34.8 Deg

New Delhi, Sep 1 (UNI) The pleasantness in the weather in Delhi today continued for the second day even though the mercury increased to 34.8 Degree Celsius.

After a predominantly cloudy day yesterday, the Sun appeared in the sky today, resulting in maximum temperature rising to 34.8 Degree Celsius, from 31.5 Degree C yesterday. The minimum was recorded at 26.6 Degree Celsius, two degrees above normal.

However, the rise in mercury notwithstanding, relief from heat and humidity was provided by cool East South Easterly winds.

After hot and humid conditions earlier this week, there has been a turnaround in weather in the Capital since yesterday, a development that weathermen attribute to formation of a low pressure area over North West Bay of Bengal.

The pleasant conditions could persistfor another day or two through rainfall activity is likely to remain subdued.

''The current meteorological analysis suggests that rainfall activity likely to remain subdued over Northwest India and Rajasthan during the next 3-4 days,''the weathermen said.

The Met office has forecast a partly cloudy sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours with likelihood of rain or thundershowers in a few areas.
