Party politics should not come in way of dev projs: Arti Mehra
New Delhi, Sep 1 (UNI) Delhi Mayor Arti Mehra today said party politics should not come in the way of development projects meant for providing civic amenities or development of the city infrastructure.
Laying the foundation stone of the 100-bed Balak Ram Hospital at Timar Pur in North Delhi, Ms Mehra said the municipal administration was sensitive towards the grievances and the needs of the citizens and hence engaged in improving basic civic amenities.
''Our aim is to keep Delhi clean and healthy,''she said.
Talking about the new hospital, she said the total cost of the project will be Rs 24.64 crore and it will be developed in a phased manner.
The first phase will cost Rs 6.16 crore which will cover construction of a three storeyed OPD block in an area of 4418 sq m and a two storeyed service block in an area of 1826 sq m. The first phase will be completed within 18 months although time for completion is 24 months.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman, Standing Committee, Vijender Gupta said the targeted time of completion be reduced by six months from 24 to 18 months so that the nearby citizens which comprises of poor and lower middle class people can avail the medical facilities at the earliest near their homes.
On the occasion, Chairman, Medical Relief and Public Health Committee, V K Monga said the MCD has planned to improve and develop structures of all its hospitals which require improvement. He informed that a 100 bed hospital will also be constructed in Tilak Nagar.
Stating that construction of the new hospitals was a step in the direction of improving basic medical facilities in the city, Dr Monga said,'' the Doctors of MCD are competitive yet the medical facilities require to be improved further.'' UNI
