On-line government tenders in six departments of UP

Lucknow, Sep 1 (UNI) In a major leap towards e-governance, Uttar Pradesh government today announced to publish tenders of six departments through website from November 1.

The departments in which all the tenders will be available on websites are Public Works Department(PWD), Irrigation, Industry, Medical and Health, Information Technology (IT) and Printing and Technology.

'' Tenders of these six departments would be available on the websites from November 1 while the scheme will be implemented in rest of the departments within next one year'', state principal secretary of Information Technology(IT) V N Garg said here.

Earlier state chief secretary P K Mishra inagurated 46 official websites of the state departments including 13 which have been refurnished.

Giving further details of the development in the IT sector, Mr Garg said efforts were on to make all the websites an interactive one, while within one year all the blocks will be connected through State Wide Network Area with 2 MBPS internet line.

He said with the assistance of the centre, a pilot project for e-governance in the districts was started in the state which will provide at least ten services to the people.

The districts selected in UP were Gorakhpur, Sultanpur, Rae Bareli, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Sitapur and Ghaziabad. UP and Assam were the two states selected by the centre under this project.

'' The state government will set up 17909 kiosk, with private participation, in the rural areas within two years'', the IT secretary said.

Mr Garg said that now the government had also decided to include public grievances in the e-governance made through Lokvani and Tehsil Diwas while tele-medicine and tele-operations would be available in all districts through SGPGI.

Mentioning about the efforts to introduce IT in the secretariat, he said within two months time all 384 sections would be computerised while all the employees will be trained accordingly.

Talking about the new websites launched in the government, he said now all the departments were given password to update them.
