Haryana to set up Medical University at Rohtak

Rohtak, Sept 1 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said a Medical University would be set up at Rohtak and it would be named after the first Chief Minister of the state Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma.

The Chief Minister was addressing a gathering at a function organised by the Gaur Brahmin Vidhya Pracharini Sabha after inaugurating Vivekanand Bhawan and laying the foundation stone of Gaur Brahmin Senior Secondary School here today.

Mr Hooda said educational institutions set up before Independence had played a pivotal role in motivating the youth for the freedom movement. The students of Gaur and the Jat School raised a banner of revolt against the British Empire during the freedom struggle.

He stressed the need for providing better education to the students, keeping in view the changing scenario after the economic liberalisation the world over.

He said, ''only that country would excel in the world, which would provide qualitative education to their students.'' Mr Hooda said the Haryana government was making persistent efforts to provide qualitative education to the students and the budget of the education had been increased four times.

Rajiv Gandhi Education City was also being set up at Kundli in Sonepat, where 25 per cent seats would be reserved for the students of the state.

Present at the occasion, Union Law Minister Hansraj Bhardwaj said those opposing the setting up of Special Economic Zones (SEZ) in Haryana, were not interested in the development of the state as these would provide ample of opportunities for employment in the state.

He said China had made rapid progress and had become a big economic power in the world after adopting the concept of SEZ.

While, Member of Parliament Deepender Singh Hooda said the Brahmin community had also given directions and blessings to the society and these institutions were playing important role in disseminating the education.
