Gujjar leaders repose faith in mahapanchayat, challenge Bainsla
Dholpur, Sep 1 (UNI) Challenging Colonel Kirori Singh Bainsla's leadership, expelled BJP Gujjar legislator Prahlad Gunjal said the future strategy to be followed by Gujjars in their fight for ST status rests entirely on mahapanchayat.
He said Col Kirori Singh Bainsla, spearheading the movement has already taken the decision once, reposing full faith in Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje. Now the decision on further strategy rests with mahapanchayat leaders.
While speaking to reporters at the Circuit House here today, Mr Gunjal said the Gujjar community is not ready to give more time to this government, otherwise the agitation would lose its steam.
He warned that if the letter recommending reservation for Gujjar community is not sent to Centre by Sep 12, the countdown for Raje's farewell would begin.
Another suspended BJP legislator Atar Singh Bhadana, who was present on the occasion, said Colonel Bainsla would not be the one to decide on the future course of action for Gujjar community but the mahapanchayat would together take the decision.
He said both Gunjal and he would tour the Gujjar dominated areas of neighbouring Murena and Gwalior districts and would invite the Gujjars for the mahapanchayat on Sep 13.
