New Delhi, Sep 1 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister today said that her Government would not leave any stone unturned in curbing fast-increasing number of road accidents in the Capital.

Launching a legal awareness campaign for school children on traffic rules and regulation- a prelude to the mega traffic Lok Adalat, Ms Dikshit said her Government would also not hesitate to recommend to the Union Government inclusion of strict provision in Section 304(A)(relating to death in accident) by amending the IPC, in case it becomes necessary.

Reiterating that the city Government was concerned about safety and security of the passengers, Ms Dikshit said,''We will feel satisfied only when even a single fatal accident will not happen in a year. The Government cannot remain a mute spectator.'' Expressing her government's resolve to provide a safe, convenient and modern city transport bus system in the Capital, She said, ''Delhi Government is also taking 1000 good quality privates buses in Delhi in which participation of corporate sector and cooperatives would be significant. These new buses would not only decrease the burden on the DTC but also improve the public transport system in Delhi.

The Chief Minister said her government would change the scenario of the city transport system in coming years.

She said her Government had started a campaign 'Walk Safe, Drive Safe' through the print and electronic media, she stressed the need to drive in a dedicated lane and not overtake specially on busy roads.

''Commuters should not try to catch or get down from a moving bus,'' she said.

The Chief Minister further said that children can play a vital role in the road safety campaigns.

''They can become the role model for others. Children are real ambassadors because we have seen in the last few years that children had played a major role to increase green cover of the Capital,'' she said.

Present on the occasion were Chief Justice of Delhi High Court Justice M.K. Sharma, Justice T.S. Thakur, Executive Chairman, Delhi Legal Services Authority, Wrestler and Rustam-e-Hind Dara Singh, Spl Commissioner of Delhi Police Neeraj Kumar and a huge gathering of school children.
