Delhi to be JJ cluster-free with coming up of 4 lakh flats in 2 yrs

New Delhi, Sep 1 (UNI) Expressing her Government's keenness to make Delhi a modern and well planned city before commencement of the 2010 Commonwealth Games, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today said an ambitious plan was afoot to make Delhi a JJ cluster-free city in next two years and provide residents of JJ clusters with a healthy ambience apart from all basic amenities in near future.

Addressing a huge rally at Mangolpuri wherein she handed over Pink Ration Cards to around 50 head of families belonging to poorest of the poor under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY), Ms Dikshit said around four lakh flats for weaker sections would be constructed with latest technology which is capable of constructing thousands of flats within five to six months. This would present a better look and provide better living conditions to the residents of JJ clusters and rehabilitation colonies as Jhuggi dwellers would be resettled in new flats.

She said this ambitious plan would make Delhi a JJ cluster-free city and residents of JJ clusters would have healthy ambience apart from all basic amenities in near future.

Ms Dikshit assured large number of women present in public meeting that her Government has taken care of providing relief to the women who always remain worried about increasing cost of kitchen inputs. Now they would be able to have their entire essential commodities in just Rs 458 per month as her Government has decided to supply wheat, rice, dal and kerosene oil at unbelievable lowest price.

The Chief Minister exhorted people to install power saving appliances and make judicious consumption of electricity.

Ms Dikshit also announced a big relief for the poor families which would have electricity at cheaper rates. The Chief Minister announced that an action plan is being prepared which would be implemented within the next two to three months.
