CM calls for Rs 100 Cr for 'Village Stay' by his successors

Melkote, Karnataka, Sep 1 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumraswamy today suggested his successors to earmark Rs 100 crore under discretionary quota to utilise for creation various basic ammenities during their 'Village Stay' concept.

Speaking to newsmen here, he said that his desire was that his successors should strictly follow the village stay scheme introduced by him as it helped numerous people besides creation of various basic ammenities such as drinking water, road repair and street lights in backward villages.

He hoped that the Fund quota would be exclusively used for these purposes and would help around 250 villages in a year if the procedure was followed.

Replying to a question, he said that he had received over five lakh petitions directly from the public during his 40 'Village Stay' programmes.

On handing over of power to coalition partner BJP, Mr Kumaraswamy reiterated that he was ready to do so on a scheduled day. Though there was a general feeling that he should continue in power, he did not want to give an impression of betrayal keeping in view his long political career.

Later, Mr Kumaraswamy participated in the Silver Jubilee functions of Sanskrit Vidya Peetha and Research Centre and left for Bellary.
