Woman arrested for slapping traffic constable

Kolkata, Aug 31 (UNI) A woman was today arrested after she slapped a traffic police constable in North Kolkata allegedly for not executing his duty properly.

Cossipore Police station sources said traffic constable Abdul Manna Mullick left his post to sort out a brawl, at the Chiriamore crossing on B T Road.

Taking advantage of the situation, motorists started crossing at their own whims, leading to severe traffic snarl.

The woman, returning home with her daughter, grew impatient for not being able to cross the road for a long time and slapped the constable.

The shocked constable then informed the nearby police station and the woman was immediately arrested for causing obstruction to the policeman in execution of his duty.

Sources at the Cossipore police station said she had later been taken to Sealdah Court.
