UP Cong to evolve 'social audit mechanism' to monitor development
Lucknow, Aug 31 (UNI) Congress Uttar Pradesh Unit Plant to evolve a ''social audit mechanism'' to monitor the development of the various welfare programmes initiated by the UPA government at the Centre.
At part of the plan to develop the mechanism, the party will organise a sensitisation programme for party members at the division level. ''At total of 1700 Congress workers will participate in the sensitisation programme to be held at all the 17 divisions,'' said UPCC secretary in charge of NREGS Sanjay Dixit.
Mr Dixit said that the two-day workshop will be organised bteween September 15 and November 15. ''We would select 100 party workers in each of the divisions to educate them about the various flagship programmes implemented by the centre he said.
He claimed that the social audit mechanism would help the state unit monitor the various developmental schemes, including the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS), Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrification Programme and the ICDS programme. The party workers would also be provided with literature to keep them updated about the programmes.
Science and Technology Minister Kapil Sibal and Women and Child development Minister Renuka Chaudhury are likely to address the participants.
