Territorial Army team sets off to trek Pir Panjal ranges

Chandigarh, Aug 31 (UNI) A trekking expedition of the Territorial Army (TA) to the Pir Panjal ranges of Himachal Pradesh was flagged off by Major General General Staff (MGGS), Headquarters Western Command from Chandimandir today.

The expedition forms a part of the ongoing diamond jubilee Raising Day celebrations of the Western Command, which completes 60 years of its Raising on September 15 this year.

Led by Captain Deepak Katoch, the expedition, comprising troops of 155 Infantry Battalion (TA) Jammu and Kashmir Rifles, will trek through an arduous terrain from Parvati to Pin Valleys of Himachal Pradesh across Pir Panjal Ranges over Pin-Parvati Pas covering approximately 180 Kms route at an average altitude of 13,000 feet. Both Pin and Parvati valleys are known to be interspersed with numerous swift and flooded nallas and wildlife sanctuaries.

Addressing the gathering during flag off, the MGGS complimented the Western Command TA Group Commander and Commanding Officer of 155 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army) for encouraging adventure sports in Territorial Army.
