Sheila Dikshit meets ailing poet
New Delhi, Aug 31 (UNI) Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today called on ailing veteran Hindi Poet Trilochan Shastri at his residence in Vaishali, near Anand Vihar Bus Terminal.
Nonagenarian Shastri has been suffering from age-related illnesses and has lost his memory. She enquired about his health and assured his family members that her Government and the Hindi Academy, Delhi would arrange all the required medical check ups and provide him an attendant.
The Hindi Academy (under the Delhi government) has already provided an amount of Rs 25,000 for Mr Shastri.
The Chief Minister presented a Tulsi sapling and a shawl to the ailing poet and wished for his speedy recovery.
Eminent writer Ashok Vajpayee, Vice-chairman Hindi Academy Mukund Dwibey, Secretary Hindi Academy Nanak Chand and other poets and writers were also present during the interaction.
Mr Trilochan Shastri was awarded Shalaka Samman of Hindi Academy in 1989-90. He has also been presented number of other prestigious awards.
