Amritsar, Aug 31 (UNI) The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandik Committee (SGPC) would provide free legal assistance to petitioners in all judicial cases filed in courts in India against the Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda.

This was stated by SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar here today after a meeting with Punjab Advocate General H S Mattewal.

In a statement Mr Makkar said the SGPC would also provide legal aid to Khatta Singh, former driver of Dera head Gurmeet Ram Raheem Singh, who is the prime witness in the twin murder and sexual exploitation cases filed by the CBI in the Special Court at Ambala.

The cases against the Dera head are likely to come up for hearing before the Ambala court sometime after September 15. The Dera head has moved the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking anticipatory bail in the cases against him.
