Stay on demolition of Ram Setu till Sept 14: SC
New Delhi, Aug 31: The Supreme Court today stayed the demolition of the Ram Setu (Adam's Bridge) in Rameshwaram till September 14.
A bench comprising Justices B N Aggarwal and P P Naolekar in the order said, '' the Ram Setu shall not be damaged in any manner. The dredging can be carried out if it does not damage the bridge.
In the meantime, the Central government will file a counter affidavit. The application for an interim stay shall be considered on September 14, 2007.'' The mythological bridge, widely revered by Hindus, is believed to have been built by Lord Rama with the help of the Hanuman Vanar Sena to reach Sri Lanka to free his wife Sita from Ravana.
