No proposal to ban cola advertisements : Minister

New Delhi, Aug 31 (UNI) The Government today denied in Rajya Sabha the proposal to ban cola advertisements in print and electronic media, not for being health hazard but for being a major cause for obesity among children.

To a question of Mr B K Hariprasad, Minister of State for Health Panabaka Lakshmi answered in written that under the advertising code of Information and Broadcasting Ministry for cable services, liquor, cigarette and infant food can not be advertised.

She denied that the government was delaying in enforcing the ban on soft drinks due to intense lobby by the cola sector.
