Bhubaneswar, Aug 31 (UNI) Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today made it clear to the striking lawyers of Bhubaneswar that the state government has no plan to shift the High Court from Cuttack to the Capital city.

Mr Patnaik's reaction came in the wake of lawyers strike in the capital city demanding the shifting of the Orissa High Court from Cuttack to Bhubaneswar.

The lawyers of Bhubaneswar Bar Association today resorted to road blockade in support of their demand obstructing the movement of traffic on the Bhubaneswar-Puri road for several hours.

The agitating lawyers also boycotted the court and urged the government not to give nod for expansion of the Orissa High Court building at Cuttack.

State Law Minister B B Harichandan also clarified that there has been no such proposal with the government to shift the High Court from Cuttack to Bhubaneswar.

However, on the demand of the lawyers from Western Orissa for a permanent bench of the High Court in Western Orissa, the Chief Minister said the matter would be examined by his government.

Life in Western Orissa was paralysed today as the lawyers called a dawn to dusk Western Orisssa bandh demanding the establishment of a permanent bench of the High Court in Western Orissa.
