Man awarded death sentence for murdering wife

Palanpur, Gujarat, Aug 31 (UNI) A Mehsana court has given the death sentence to a man convicted for burning his wife to death on February 17 this year.

Dasrath Thakore had burnt his wife Vinaben to death following her refusal to give him money to buy liquor, according to the prosecution case.

Unemployed and addicted to alcohol, Dasrath usually harrassed his wife for money. On February 17 this year, he had asked for money but Vinaben told him that she had no money to give him.

Angered at her refusal, the man had bound his wife to the cot and set her afire after dousing her with kerosene. He had later shut the door from outside and prevented others from rushing to the woman's help. Vinaben had implicated her husband in her dying declaration.
