Loans to Safai Karamcharies to set up their own ventures

Chandigarh, Aug 31 (UNI) The Haryana Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation will provide loans of up to Rs 10 lakh on easy terms with the assistance of National Safai Karamcharis Finance and Development Corporation (NSKFDC) to enable Safai Karamcharis to set up their own ventures for their socio-economic development.

Social Welfare Minister Kartar Devi said the State Scheduled Castes Finance Development Corporation (SCDC) has forwarded 57 loan cases amounting to Rs 55.29 lakh to NSKFDC for sanctioning the loans.

The Minister said that NSKFDC has been extending financial assistance in form of term loan to the State Scheduled Castes Development Corporation (SCDC) to the extent of 90 per cent of the loan sanctioned by the State Corporation against the specific schemes and projects costing up to Rs five lakh for financing Safai Karamcharis.

She said that the remaining 10 per cent amount of the unit would be borne by the SCDC in the form of loan and beneficiary's share as per means of finance approved under a particular scheme by NSKFDC.

Ms Kartar Devi said SCDC would provide short term loans of upto Rs 25,000 at an interest rate of five per cent, whereas, under Mahila Samridhi Yojana the loan of up to Rs 25,000 would be given at a rate of four per cent.

Similarly, long term loans of up to Rs five lakh would be given under any income generating scheme at an interest rate of six per cent in which the share of the beneficiary would be five per cent of the total loan.

The Minister said for works related to sanitation and purchase of instruments, loan of up to Rs 10 lakh would be given to the beneficiary at an rate of six per cent and the share of the beneficiaries would be five per cent of the total loan.
