K'taka to spend 50 cr on Kanakadasa birthplace
Bangalore, Aug 31: The Karnataka Government will spend Rs 50 crore in the next decade to ensure overall development of Bada Village and Kaginele where saint Kanakadasa was born and brought up and its surrounding historical places.
Talking to newspersons here, Agriculture Minister Bandeppa Kashempur and Water Resources Minister K S Eswarappa said the Kaginele Development Authority, headed by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, held its first meeting on August 24 and decided to take up work on road links, main entrance and construction of a temple near the saint's memorial and also a research centre.
They said the services of Archaeological Survey of India would be sought for excavation works at Bada Village where the saint was born. The other places proposed for development include Kummuru, Ingalgondi and Kadaramandalagi.
The government had approved Rs 6.53 crore during this year to take up various works in the places, they added.
