Srinagar, Aug 31 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir police arrested one person and recovered a large number of goods fraudulently collected from different transport companies after submitting fake papers.
A police spokesman said a case was registered in the Saddar police station by one Khursheed Ahmad Nazki, owner of Unique Traders Badgam, alleging that a consignment of Amul Milk, dispatched by Gujarat Dairy Cooperatives from Jammu on August 13, had not reached him.
He also said during the investigation by police station Chanapora, Sub-Inspector Tariq Ahmad, he found a nexus between a group of criminals who used to forge stamps and other documents of some leading firms and fraudulently collect their behalf from the transport companies.
A spokesman said the officer found that one Riyaz Ahmad, a resident of Chanapora and his associates had fraudulently unloaded the consignment using fake stamps and other paper of Unique traders.
The police arrested Riyaz and recovered the goods, he added. He did not rule out some more arrests and recovery of goods from the miscreants.
