Srinagar, Aug 31 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly today passed four Bills, including a Bill to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Right to Information Act, 2004, with a voice vote and was later adjourned sine-die.

Minister of State for Finance Prem Sagar Aziz laid on the table of the House a copy of audit report on the Accounts of Jammu and Kashmir State Financial Corporation for the year ended March 31, 2005, as required under Section 37(7) of the State Financial Corporation Act, 1951.

The House also passed the motion for extension of time for presentation of report of a House Committee, looking into the illegal appointments made in all departments of the state government from 1996 till date.

The Committee was also probing the works that were executed in all the engineering wings of the government from 1996 till date without inviting tenders during the period and whether any law, rule, regulation, code or standing order was violated. House Committee chairperson Khem Lata Wakhloo had moved the motion.

Forests, Housing and Urban Development Minister Qazi Mohammad Afzal moved a Bill to prohibit and regulate handling and disposal of non-biodegradable material in the state and the matters connected therewith and incidental thereto (L.A. Bill No. 10 of 2007).

Social Welfare Minister Haji Nissar Ali moved a Bill to amend the Jammu and Kashmir State Commission for Backward Classes Act, 1997 (L.A. Bill No. 12 of 2007).

Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Minister Taj Mohi-ud-din on behalf of Finance Minister Tariq Hamid Karra moved a Bill to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Value Added Tax Act, 2005, the Jammu and Kashmir General Sales Tax Act, 1962 and the Jammu and Kashmir Entry Tax on Goods Act, 2000 (L.A Bill No. 13 of 2007).

Mr Mohi-ud-din, on behalf of Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, also moved a Bill to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Right to Information Act, 2004 (L.A Bill No. 14 of 2007).

All the four Bills moved in the House were passed with a voice vote after brief discussions in which members from both the treasury and the opposition benches participated.

Speaker Tara Chand later adjourned the House sine-die.
