ILS on for civilian flights at Vizag airport
Visakhapatnam, Aug 31 (UNI) The Instrument Landing System (ILS), which guides the aircraft to land safely during bad weather conditions, was made available to civilian flights at Vizag airport here today.
Airport Controller C Pattabi today said with the ILS on, there would be hardly any diversions or cancellations on account of poor visibility.
He said the new system would build confidence among the air travel community.
He said the night-landing facility in the airport, controlled by the Indian navy from its ATC at INS DEGA, would help the aircraft to take off and land during night time when it starts functioning.
