High-level committee to review the flood situation

Patna, Aug 31 (UNI) A seven-member high level committee will visit the flood affected areas of Bihar tomorrow to suggest long and short term remedies to check the natural calamity.

State water resources department principal secretary Ashok Kumar Sinha said here today the committee, led by central flood commission member, will assess the prevailing situation caused due to erosion by Gandak river in Basuhi and Bijuliya villages of Begusarai district.

The committee would also interact with the affected people to ascertain the gravity of the problems.

Mr Sinha said the committee would also suggest safety and security measures for controlling flood besides assessing the viability of a project for dredging the rivers to solve siltation problems.
