HC notice to HP govt on child death case
Shimla, Aug 31 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh High Court today issued notices to the state government, Shimla deputy commissioner and the Congress and BJP seeking reply on the issue of death of a child during the rallies organised by the two parties here on August 29.
Hearing the PIL filed by Vireder Thakur, the division bench of Chief Justice V K Gupta and Justice Rajeev Sharma directed the respondents to file their reply by September 7, when the matter would again come up for hearing.
The petitioner had filed PIL on the basis of media reports highlighting the death of four year old Dinesh, who had died on his way to the IGMC hospital here, as the vehicle in which he was being carried got stuck during the rallies organised by the Congress and the BJP.
The petitioner has submitted that there should be some guidelines to ensure that such rallies do not hamper traffic. It has also been submitted that the political parties organising public rallies are made responsible for smooth flow of traffic.
