HC for spl squads of mobile police to check black films in vehicles
Ranchi, Aug 31 (UNI) Jharkhand High Court today directed the state government to constitute special squads of mobile police in all the major districts to keep a check on vehicles using tinted glasses.
A division bench comprising, Chief Justice Muthuswamy Karpagvinayagam and Narendra Nath Tiwary passed the order while hearing a Public Interest Litigitation (PIL) of its own motion.
The court also directed the state government to deploy mobile police near the co-education institutions and colleges to avoid any untoward incident.
Advocate General S B Garodia submitted his report as per earlier order of the court, stating that the traffic police so far had removed black films from about 366 vehicles and recovered Rs 32,940 as fine, and the drive of removing black films from the vehicles was still on.
The Chief Justice had recenlty received a letter from a local women's college student alleging that she was gangraped in a car having black films on it, near her college.
Taking note of the letter, the HC had earlier directed the government to remove black films from the vehicles plying on the road.
Many girls had written to the Chief Justice for his effort in this direction appreciating the state government for the drive against the black film users.
The court has directed to exempt those vehicles, which had the permission of using black films because of security reasons.
The court had appointed V P Singh as amicus curie to assist the court in the case.
