Haryana to bring examination reforms in Polytechnics
Chandigarh, Aug 31 (UNI) The Haryana Technical Education Department has decided to bring major examination reforms in the Polytechnics of the state so as to bring transparency in the examination system.
Director Technical Education M P Gupta today said the decision was taken in view of the growing number of aspirants in the state opting to pursue technical education.
This year over one lakh students appeared in diploma entrance examination.
The department had earlier increased the intake of government Polytechnics from 5,600 to 11,600 and overall intake of Polytechnics to more than 21,000, he added.
Mr Gupta said that to introduce more transparency in the examination system, it was decided that a photocopy of the answer-sheet would be provided to the students on their request on depositing the required fees of Rs 1000 for it.
Instead of the provision of only re-totaling of the marks now, re-evaluation of the answer-sheets by different examiners on the request of the candidates would be the other change which would be implemented for this purpose.
Mr Gupta said that all the information related to sessional examination of the student and their internal marks would be displayed on notice board of the Polytechnic and also on web-site of the Polytechnic.
Computerisation of examination system was also undertaken for the convenience of the students.
The Examination web-site would be made operational from this academic session to enable the students to browse the website regarding various activities. Examination results were also being made available on web-site for information to all stakeholders, he added.
He said that five zonal placement centres would be established at Government Polytechnics of Ambala, Nilokheri, Sonepat and Hisar and Government Polytechnic for Women, Faridabad.
