Goans urged to support Ram Setu cause

Panaji, Aug 31 (UNI) The Goa unit of the Rameshwaram Setu Raksha Manch and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad have called upon the Goans to unitedly oppose the move of the Central Government to demolish the Ram Setu.

Mr Sanjay Walawalkar of the Manch, speaking to media persons here today, said Ram Setu is an amazing structure in the Indian Ocean -- a continuous 48-km long stretch of underwater causeway which connects Rameshwaram to Talaimannar.

He said the Goa unit of the Manch has already started spreading awareness about Ram Setu in Goa. Hand-outs will be circulated while 497 Ram Setu Rakshabandhan programmes will be held. As many as 218 corner meetings will also be organised.

It is also proposed to submit about 25,000 letters to the President and the Prime Minister in support of the Ram Setu.
