Former senior police officer shot dead in Kashmir

Srinagar, Aug 31 (UNI) A former superintendent of police (SP) was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in north Kashmir's Baramulla district today, official sources said.

They said former SP Mohammad Amin Khan was attacked by the unidentified gunmen at Kunzar in Baramulla district this evening.

Security guards of the police officer also retaliated and in the gunfight, Khan and one of his security guards were critically wounded, the sources said.

The two were shifted to a hospital where the former SP succumbed to wounds, they added.

The militants had managed to escape from the scene.
