Five police officials booked for extortion

Fatehgarh Sahib, Aug 31 (UNI) Mandi Gobindgarh police has booked its five own police officials for threatening a junk dealer to extort money from him.

The case was registered against Head Constable Raghbir Singh, Constable Harinder Singh and three Home Guard Jawans Meharwan Singh, Jatinder Singh and Jammu Ram, all posted at Mandi Gobindgarh police station under sections 384,409,34 of the IPC after a secret information received by Mandi Gobindgarh SHO Sukhjit Singh Virk, police sources said here today.

The sources said that the SHO received information that the police had registered a case against a junk dealer Ram Bilas of Sardar Nager on July 12 for purchasing stolen goods and the five police officials had recently threatened him for extorting money from him.

Sources said that the junk dealer had also complained to Fatehgarh Sahib SSP Nilabh Kishore in this regard.

After registering the case against these five police officials, Mandi Gobindgarh SHO is now investigating the case.
