Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Aug 31 (UNI) Sessions judge S S Patil recently sentenced a drug peddler to 10 years rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs one lakh for transporting and possessing 44 kg ganja.

The convict Laxman Santram Musle (25), a resident of Mamadpalli in Untur taluka of Adilabad district in Andhra Pradesh, was arrested by the Paithan MIDC police on July 22, 2006.

Assistant Police Inspector Jeevan Munde, questioned Musale and later searched his car, that was on its way to Aurangabad. The search revealed two gunny bags full of ganja (marijuana) worth Rs 44,000 from his car.

Following arguments, judge Patil sentenced Musle to 10 years RI and fined Rs one lakh under section 20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1995, according to the Additional Public Prosecutor Rajendra Mugdia.
