Dhoraji town BJP President injured in assault

Rajkot, Aug 31 (UNI) BJP Dhoraji unit chief Lalit Vora and one of his supporters were injured when a furious mob attacked them at their office yesterday, police today said.

The mob belonging to the Dalit community ransacked the office of Mr Vora before attacking him and his supporter. Mr Vora and his supporter Chandulal Dhamecha were rushed to hospital with serious injuries, the police said.

The mob created panic in the area leading to shutting down of shops by businessmen. Police rushed to the area and took control of the situation.

Police teams have been deployed in Soni Bazar area and the hospital to avoid any untoward incident, the police said.

The mob had earlier demanded the development of the town and appointment of an officer in the civic office. However, the exact cause of the attack is yet to be known. Police are investigating the incident.

Meanwhile, a half day bandh was called on Dhoraji protest of the incident.
