CPI alleges corruption in appointments of Sanitary assistants

Puducherry, Aug 31(UNI) Alleging widespreaded irregularities in the appointment of part time sanitary assistants in the police department here, CPI national council member R.Viswanathan MLA today demanded the cancellation of the appointment for frsh recruitments.

Adressing a press conference here he pointed out that call letters for varification of certificates were sent to the applicants. After the varification, a practical test should have been conducted by the recruitment committee.

However, appointment orders were issued on varification of the certificates,he said and charged that senior police officials had accepted bribes and issued appointment orders.

Mr Viswanathan demanded that the IGP and Chief Secretary, who is the home secretary besides the Chief Minister should explain to the public how the appointments were made. Also the appointments be abolished and fresh practical tests conducted, he demanded.

Reacting to the reported statement of PCC(I) President P Shanmugham that the CPI is organising agitations to encourage party caders, Mr Viswanathan said it was the culture of the CPI to take up peoples issue and fight for them.

He alleged that the Congress culture was to unleash violence among the party caders.
