Congress urges youth to explain to the people on nuclear deal

Shillong, Aug 30 (UNI) Indian Youth Congress president Ashok Tanwar today urged his party workers in Meghalaya to explain to the people about India's benefits through the Indo-US nuclear deal.

The deal will benefit the ''aam admi'' as the cost of power requirement will be less, Mr Tanwar told a gathering of young Congress activists here.

The youth Congress leader, who launched the primary membership campaign of the party, said, ''Nuclear power is immensely required both at the state as well as international level.'' Mr Tanwar also appealed to the party workers to generate global attention about the uranium resources embedded in the State.

He urged his party workers to prepare for the coming Assembly Election in the state.

Meghalaya, along with Nagaland and Tripura goes to Assembly polls early next year.

Chief Minister D D Lapang also urged the youth Congress to start the campaign on the party's developmental activities.
