Coal production improved during July, 2007

New Delhi, Aug 31 (UNI) The total coal production during the month of July, 2007 jointly by the Coal India Ltd (CIL) and the Singareni Colleries Company Ltd (SCCL) stood at 28.74 Million tonnes (MT) as against the monthly target of 31.73 MT.

According to official sources, the actual coal production of CIL and SCCL in July 2006 was 28.63 MT. The coal production growth in July 2007 compared to the same period last year was placed at 0.35 per cent.

The coal dispatches to power sector during July, 2007 was 23.82 MT.

During the same period, Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) produced 17 MT of lignite as compared to 17.05 MT produced during the same month last year.

However, the power generation was higher at 1,598.89 Million Units as against 1,349.40 MU for the same period in 2006.
