Centre announces concession in AIR for NGOs of NE
Agartala, Aug 31 (UNI) The Centre will give concession upto 50 per cent on commercial rates to NGOs and voluntary organisations for promoting public service broadcasting on various radio stations in Northeas.
Official sources said here today the Prasar Bharati had set up an exclusive Marketing Division in Guwahati last year, which was working on a Single Window for catering the needs of the advertisers and clients of the region.
The division had been accepting bookings for and on behalf of all the AIR stations of Northeastern region while the Information and Broadcasting Ministry had implemented a special plan for strengthening the radio coverage in border areas in the region.
As part of the North East Plan Phase-I, two FM transmitters at Itanagar and Kohima were set up and installation of 1 KW FM transmitter at 19 new places of the region had been approved.
Besides, a 5 KW FM transmitter in Silchar, 10 KW FM transmitter in Gangtok, replacement of 1000 KW Medium Wave (MW) transmitter at Chinsurah in West Bengal by same power transmitter and 100 numbers of 100 Watt FM transmitters for uncovered areas had been approved, officials stated.
According to official reports, AIR had already allowed concession to voluntary organisations for promoting public service broadcasting on radio stations at Halflong, Jorhat, Diphu, Kokrajhar, Belonia, Gangtok, Jowai, Kailashahar, Mokokchung, Kohima, Tezu and Tura.
