Itanagar, Aug 31: The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has repaired the damaged three-km stretch of National Highway No.52 under Bordoloni block in Assam's Dhemaji district within record 45 days.

Official sources here today said the BRO had taken up restoration work on war footing and constructed the three-km road, including the 110-feet long steel bridge and five culverts, to enable traffic movement within 45 days.

Heavy downpour since the second week of July had caused floods in the catchment areas of Jiadhol and Kumatiya rivers and damaged NH 52, the lifeline of six districts of Arunachal Pradesh and northern bank of the Brahmaputra river.

The flood water had submerged the railway line, guide bund, road embankment and washed away the three-km of NH 52 on July 12 besides causing breach in two important bridges.

The BRO was also repairing the Kumatiya bridge through a new alignment and constructing wire crate walls for toe protection of the road embankment, which would be completed shortly, official sources added.
