Assistant Director CAPD arrested while accepting bribe in Kashmir
Srinagar, Aug 31 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Vigilance Organisation (VO) arrested Assistant Director of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) in a corruption case.
A VO spokesman said that a written complaint was received from storekeeper Sonaullah Wani of CAPD posted at Watlar, Ganderbal, alleging that Assistant Director Tariq Ahmad Qadri was demanding Rs 10,000 for release of payment of a bill for arranging tent at Khirbhawani shrine last year.
A trap was laid and the accused was arrested while accepting the money in presence of indepenent witnesses in his office chamber. The money was recovered from his possession, he said.
Later, the file pertaining to release of payment was also recovered from the possession of the accused officer and seized by the VO officials and a case FIR number 50/2007 u/s 5(2) P.C.Act r/w 161 RPC was registered in police station VOK Srinagar.
