AP govt will take steps to bring back workers from UAE: Minister
Hyderabad, Aug 31 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Energy, Coal and Minority Welfare Minister Mohd Ali Shabbir today said the government would take all necessary steps to bring back the people staying in United Arab Emirates (UAE) without valid documents to the state.
Addressing a press conference here, he said the Union govenrment had a received a letter from UAE authorities, which had extended the time by another two months.
He said Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy was taking special interest for their safe return from UAE. A special cell was also set up there to collect wages for the workers from the companies which had not paid for the last two months.
He said the Union Government had given permission to a five-member group headed by him (Shabbir) to visit Dubai to help the stranded workers.
Stating that Air India had already arranged a special flight to bring the stranded workers from Dubai, he said the state government would also look into their rehabilitation after the workers return to the state.
