19 buffaloes rescued on way to slaughter house

Ahmedabad, Aug 31 (UNI) The Tarapur town police today rescued several buffaloes and calves from two tempos and arrested four persons in this connection.

Acting on a tip-off, the police kept a watch from the wee hours of today and at 1030 hrs, they intercepted the two tempos carrying the buffaloes and calves inside to the slaughter house at the Tarapur chowkdi. From one tempo they rescued 9 buffaloes and 2 calves, while from another 10 buffaloes and 1 calf were rescued.

The cattle were seized under the sections 5 and 6 of the Animal Cruelty Act.

The arrested have been identified as Rashid Mohammad Sheikh, Yunus Sheikh, Mohammad Belim and Altaf Rahim Sheikh, all are the residents of Ahmedabad.
