WLC condemns India's ties with Burma's military regime

Aizawl, Aug 30 (UNI) The Women League of Chinland (WLC) here today asked India to reconsider its ties with the military junta of Burma (Myanmar).

While condemning the alleged atrocities of the military regime, the WLC also criticised the recent hike in prices of fuel and said it would only cause hardships to the common people.

The League in a letter to Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga, copies of which were submitted to the legislators and parliamentarians, also condemned the arrests of the activists peacefully demonstrating the ''economic mismanagement'' of the regime since August 22.

The League requested the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to take stronger action against the military regime of Myanmar.

'' We request the Government of India to reconsider its ties with Burma's military regime. It is a shame for India to engage with a regime that has acted so undemocratically against its own civilians,'' the League said.
