Upgradation of fire brigade, emergency services necessary: Naik

Panaji, Aug 30 (UNI) Home Minister Ravi Naik today emphasised that to efficiently and effectively deal with all types of emergencies in Goa, the fire brigade and emergency services be upgraded.

This was stated by Mr Naik after reviewing the Attestation Parade of the 34th and 35th batches of fire fighters at the parade ground of fire force headquarters here.

He said the Fire and Emergency Services were one of the very important services that had helped save the lives and property during the emergencies and fire accidents. With the growing industrialisation and high rise buildings coming up in the state, there is a need to further strengthen the fire brigade with the latest equipment and technical knowledge so that they can serve the people better.

With high rise buildings coming up in the state, the fire brigade should procure aerial ladders to rescue the trapped people in these buildings during emergency.

Expressing his happiness about the training courses at the fire heaquarters, he said the training centre should be upgraded to the full-fledged Fire Academy.

The outstanding recruit cadets were also presented with good service certificates at the hands of Mr Naik.
