TTDC to launch South India tour in Delhi

Chennai, Aug 30 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) will launch a 14-day South India tour by rail and road in New Delhi on September 23 to lure more tourists to the State.

TTDC officials here today said the South India tour was a special rail-cum-road package for the people of Delhi and Northern States.

The tour would cover places including Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tirupati, Coimbatore, Bangalore, Mysore, Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Madurai, Udhagamandalam and other places of importance. This tour initiative would continue till next year, the officials said.

TTDC was also planning to organise a national water sports event in association with Chennai Boat Club during the end of this year.

Apart from this, TTDC in association with the State Transport Corporation, had planned to introduce a new scheme 'Hop on Hop off' this year in the city to facilitate tourists visiting various tourist destinations in Chennai.

Under the new scheme, a tourist could board the bus at any location and alight at any stop convenient for seeing tourist attractions in the city, the officials said.

In this concept, the best was that there was no fixed time schedule to be followed and the tourist could spend as much time as required at any tourist attraction according to their interest, they added.
