Guwahati, Aug 30 (UNI) With an eye on investment, the chief executive officer of Tata Consultancy Services S Ramadorai will be visting Assam along with a team of experts tomorrow.

Informing this to reporters on the sidelines of the Northeast Information and Communication Technology (NICT) conference here, Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jairam Ramesh said the IT baron representing one of the leading global information technology consulting, services and business process outsourcing organizations of the world has agreed to visit Assam.

The TCS chief would be attending the NICT conference before meeting the chief minister later in the evening. He is also expected to visit the Guwahati IIT in a bid to explore the potential of the region.

Mr Ramesh said even though the TCS chief has promised nothing so far, he is expected to announce a big investment in the region.

Denouncing the media hype received by the region's insurgent elements, the Union Minister said the security glare of the North East had 'destroyed' the region.

'' But statistically if you analyze, there are more violent incidents in other states. Large parts of the Northeast are quite peaceful than other parts of the country. It's time investments flow into the region and remove the seclusion,'' Mr Ramesh said.

However, he said, things are now changing and hopefully the entire get-up of the region would transform gradually.
