SGPC and Akal Takht should not support Hawara: Tej Parkash

Fatehgarh Sahib, Aug 30 (UNI) Son of Late chief minister Beant Singh and Congress MLA from Payal, Tej Parkash Singh said that SGPC and Akal Takht Jathedar Joginder Singh Vedanti should not support Jagtar Singh Hawara and his associates as these persons were held guilty by court in his father's assassination case.

Talking to media persons at Bassi Pathana after presiding over a function in memory of late Beant Singh organized by former forest minister Dr Harbans Lal, Mr Singh described as ''unjustified'' some statements issued by SGPC president and Akal Takht Jathedar in favour of Hawara and his associates to provide legal assistance to them.

He also said that Beant Singh death anniversary function will be held in Chandigarh tomorrow and for the first time, it would not be held at Kotli in Payal.

When asked about the 'tussle' between PPCC president Shamsher Singh Dullo and former Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, Tej Parkash Singh refused to comment on it, claiming that there was no rift in the party.
