RS congratulates Indian football team for lifting Nehru Cup

New Delhi, Aug 30 (UNI) The Rajya Sabha today congratulated the Indian football team for winning the International Nehru Cup defeating Syria yesterday and hoped that the victory would help India achieve higher ranking in FIFA.

Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari, while reading a statement in the House, said the victory, which is the first of its kind after long years, would bolster the spirit of sportspersons in the country.

''I congratulate the Indian football team for winning the Nehru Cup against Syria, a much higher FIFA ranking team...The victory would help India achieve higher ranking in FIFA. The victory which is the first of its kind after long years, will bolster the spirit of sports persons in the country,'' the Chairman said.
