Rs 100 Cr being spent under RGGVY for rural electrification in J&K

Srinagar, Aug 30 (UNI) Three districts of Anantnag and Pulwama in Kashmir division and Kathua in Jammu region have been taken up for rural electrification under Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY).

A number of more districts were also being taken under phase-II, Minister for Power Nawang Rigzin Jora said.

He said Rs 48 crore in Anantnag, Rs 19.26 crore in Pulwama and Rs 32 crore in Kathua districts were being spent under the yojana in the first phase.

The Minister said the government was committed to electrify all the unelectrified villages and hamlets of the state by next three years, adding that various projects had been submitted under different programmes to the Centre for formal appraisal and funding.

He further said that to improve the transmission network, the state had been provided Rs 509 crore under APDRP scheme while another Rs 705 crore was received under Prime Minister's Reconstruction Programme besides projects under PMRP worth Rs 1035 crore had been submitted to the Centre under the programme.
